The Fraser Institute offers a limited number of Travel Bursaries to cover transportation and accommodation costs for students wanting to attend an Explore Public Policy Issues student seminar in Vancouver. We will be offering two seminars in Vancouver this school year. The first is on October 25, 2014, and the second is on January 31, 2015.

If you are passionate about the economy, business, and critical issues of the day, join other students from across BC and listen to academics, community and business leaders address important public policy issues. Enjoy a challenging and inspiring day of discussion and inquiry while networking with like-minded individuals.

Please review the topics and speakers for each seminar (links above) and decide which program you would like to apply for. Please note that you can apply for both bursaries, but students are only eligible to receive one bursary per school year (see the application form for details).

    Bursary Includes:

    • Airfare from the closest major BC airport to Vancouver
    • Return transportation from airport to conference hotel
    • Shared hotel accommodation on Friday and Saturday nights
    • Attendance at the Explore Public Policy Issues seminar on Saturday
    • Saturday morning breakfast, breaks, lunch and reception with speakers

    Eligibility:

    • You must be a student between the ages of 17 and 30 and currently enrolled in Grade 12, college, or university
    • You must be a resident of British Columbia that lives outside of the Lower Mainland and Victoria.
    • If you are under 18, you must have a parent/guardian sign a consent form
    • Application deadline for the fall and winter bursary is Monday, September 22, 2014 (5:00 pm PST)
Please note you may apply for both bursaries, but are only eligible to receive one bursary in the school year. Please indicate on the application form which bursary you are applying for, or if you would like to apply for both (you have no preference which program you attend).
    • All applicants that apply for the fall and/or winter travel bursaries will be notified by Friday, October 3, 2014.

Please note that students are personally responsible to get themselves to the airport on time to make their flights. The Fraser Institute will pay for additional fares due to extenuating circumstances, but will not pay for missed flights.
