Helping parents in need access their choice of school

All parents want the best for their children and that includes the opportunity to send their children to a school that best meets their needs. But many families cannot afford to do so.

Children First: School Choice Trust is Canada’s first privately funded program that helps low-income parents send their children to an independent elementary school of their choice.

Grants worth up to 50% of tuition are available. For more details about the program or an application, visit the Children First website, at www.childrenfirstgrants.ca.

Alberta and Ontario
Children First is available for elementary students in Calgary, Alberta and Ontario.

This innovative program has been made possible by the leadership of its founding donors, The W. Garfield Weston Foundation (www.westonfoundation.org) in Ontario and The Hunter Family Foundation in Alberta.

Recognition and Awards
Children First is a Featured Program of the Toronto Community Foundation. It is the only Canadian program ever to win the international Templeton Award for Social Entrepreneurship (2004).
