The Garfield Weston Awards for Excellence in Education honour school teams—teachers, administrators, and support staff—who make outstanding contributions to their students’ academic success.

Exceptional Results
Awards are presented for outstanding achievement in several categories:

• Overall academic achievement
• Improvement in academics
• Academic achievement in excess of expectations.

The awards are based on objective measures of student success.

Selecting the Awards
Schools are short-listed for each award category after a thorough analysis of student results data. No more than 30 of the top performing schools are invited to participate in the awards program.

Schools Make a Difference
Research in Canada and around the world has shown that activity within a school can affect students’ academic results. The Garfield Weston Awards for Excellence in Education identifies these schools that make a difference and celebrates their success.
