About the Event

In the Economic Freedom of the World Teacher Workshop, an award winning economics educator presents on eight lesson plans which highlight the impact of economic freedom on global prosperity. The content of these lessons directly complements the Economics 12, Social Studies 11, Comparative Studies 12, Law 12, Human Geography 12, Political Studies 12, and Urban Studies 12 curricula.

With materials updated in 2017, and using the new Economic Freedom of The World website, this workshop provides teachers with an interactive learning experience that examines the recent recession and resulting impact on economic freedom. Each teacher leaves with detailed lesson plans to integrate into their classrooms, and a copy of the 2016 Economic Freedom of the World wall map.

Signè Thomas is the Project Director of Common Sense Economics, and is known as a strong advocate for economic freedom and Veterans. At the FSU Stavros Center for the Advancement of Free Enterprise and Economic Education, she enjoys advancing economic freedom through educational program implementation, content development, teaching, event planning, and organizational growth. She is heavily involved in promoting economic literacy across colleges and high schools, particularly through teaching educators in an online setting. She founded the social enterprise Students for America's Military, Inc (SAM). She has been recognized on a plethora of occasions for her philanthropic work with Veterans and active duty military. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Affairs as well as her Masters in Applied Economics from Florida State University.
