This workshop with recently revised content includes lesson plans that showcase the changes and impact of governmental policies on the long term performance of the Canadian Economy.

Teachers will be able to go home with resources that give students a basic understanding of economic statistics, and with the tools to directly compare the economies of Canada and the USA.

The lesson plans you will gather are comprehensive and are applicable to any economy. Moreover, the topics overlap with the NEW Economics 12 BC curriculum*.

Debt, deficit and surplus, inflation, money supply*, monetary policy*, economic institutions, economic growth*, financial crises*, among others.

Debbie Henney teaches economics at Mesa Community College, in Mesa, Arizona, where she is also Director of the Honors Program and the MCC Center for Economic Education.  She began presenting programs as a Mentor Teacher for the Foundation for Teaching Economics in 2006 and is currently the Director of Curriculum for the FTE. Debbie spent the first ten years of her career teaching economics in the high school classroom and later championed economic education efforts as Executive Director of the Arizona Council on Economic Education and President of the Arizona Council for the Social Studies.  She is the author of economic education lessons for the k-12 classroom and regularly presents programs, workshops, in-service trainings, and week-long residential programs for schools, students and teachers.
