This fun one-day seminar consists of a mix of short lectures, games and activities that introduce economic principles using real-life examples. The format is similar to the senior high school seminars, but the economic principles are taught at a more basic level that is suitable for students in grades 7, 8, and 9.

This program is a great complement to many courses including Business Education, Social Studies, and Career Planning.

Debbie Henney teaches economics at Mesa Community College, in Mesa, Arizona, where she is also Director of the Honors Program and the MCC Center for Economic Education.  She began presenting programs as a Mentor Teacher for the Foundation for Teaching Economics in 2006 and is currently the Director of Curriculum for the FTE. Debbie spent the first ten years of her career teaching economics in the high school classroom and later championed economic education efforts as Executive Director of the Arizona Council on Economic Education and President of the Arizona Council for the Social Studies.  She is the author of economic education lessons for the k-12 classroom and regularly presents programs, workshops, in-service trainings, and week-long residential programs for schools, students and teachers.
