Dr. Lehrer has been on faculty at York University,
Toronto, since 1974, where he has taught finance, accounting,
and more recently, organization, management, real estate
administration, and housing policy. Born in London, England,
in 1944, he obtained his first degree in economics at
Manchester University in 1964. Thereafter, he pursued a
career in professional and management accounting, working for
such companies as Shell, lTI, and IBM. He obtained his
English F.C.A. and later earned his Canadian C.A. designation
after immigrating to Toronto in 1970.
Professor Lehrer obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. in sociology
at York University from 1978 to 1984. His current research
interests include housing and transportation policies for
aging populations. Recent publications include an analysis of
the free trade issue and its impact on the last Canadian
federal election (The Nation, Israel).
