Meg Tuszynski is a research associate at the O’Neil Center for Global Markets and Freedom in the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. She earned her M.A. in economics from George Mason University in 2015, and a dual B.A. in philosophy and economics from the same school in 2011. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate in the economics department at George Mason University. Her current research focuses on the evolution of the demand for government programs. Her publications have appeared in Public Choice and the Journal of Value Inquiry.

Economic Freedom of the World: 2016 Annual Report

The Economic Freedom of the World: 2016 Annual Report is the world’s premier measurement of economic freedom, ranking countries based on five areas: size of government, legal structure and security of property rights, access to sound money, freedom to trade internationally, and regulation of credit, labour and business. This year’s report compares 159 countries and territories. In this year’s ranking, which is based on 2014 data, Hong Kong is again number one, Canada is tied for fifth, and the United States ranked 16th for the second year in a row.
