1. I have not yet participated in the Economics for Journalists program. Am I eligible to attend the Policy for Journalists program?

We will consider Policy for Journalists applications of those who may already have a sound understanding of economics, but priority will be given to those who have previously taken the Economics for Journalists program offered by the Fraser Institute.

2. How do I apply for the Policy for Journalists program?

You can find our application form online on www.fraserinstitute.org/education-programs/journalists/policy-for-journalists-application-form.

3. Is there a fee to attend the program?

No, there is no fee to attend. In fact, we also cover your transportation (flights, train, vehicle, etc.), accommodations, and most meals!

4. I'm interested in attending, but I normally do not cover topics related to economics or public policy. Can I apply?

Yes – participants from all journalism backgrounds are welcome to apply!

5. I'm a Canadian journalist currently living and working abroad. Can I apply?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept applicants that are currently living and working abroad.

6. I'm an international journalist currently living and working in Canada. Can I apply?

Yes, you are welcome apply.

7. What are the expectations or requirements for Policy for Journalists participants?

Participants are expected to attend the full program, which includes the welcome reception/dinner on Thursday, and the full 2 days of the program. Participants are required to stay at the hosting hotel for 2 nights (Thursday and Friday).

8. I want to attend the program, but have other commitments that would require me to arrive at the program later or leave the program earlier. Can I still apply?

You must be available to attend the full duration of the program prior to accepting your placement. If you are not available, please contact us to be added to the list for future programs.

9. When will I learn about the status of my application?

You will be notified about the status of your application in mid-September.
